Mr. Jitu C. Patel is a health & safety international consultant with over forty-five years of experience in Safety, Health & Environment field with chemicals, oil & gas corporations. For 21 years, Mr. Patel has provided health & safety professional services to Aramco, the world’s largest Oil & Gas producing & processing corporation in Saudi Arabia. He directed a team of Safety Engineers providing safety management support to one of the world’s largest refineries, master gas gathering and recovery plants and also to their associated multi-million-dollar modernization & expansion projects.
Mr. Patel provided technical training and conducted research for 15 years in the field of fire & explosion, health and environment issues at an export-oriented heavy chemical manufacturing company owned by UK Oil companies, for safe processing, storage and world-wide distribution of company products, such as, Chlorine, Bromine, halogenated hydrocarbons, Anti-Knock gasoline Lead additives, Hydrogen, Caustic and Acids.
Mr. Patel prepared many safety-audit reports at heavy chemicals, oil & gas corporations. He developed and conducted Fire & Safety seminars for benefit of Safety & Fire Prevention engineers and line management of industry operations, maintenance & engineering organizations. He is an author of many papers, which are presented at international conferences and published in technical journals of high repute.

Mr. Patel acted as a member or a chairman of many major incident investigations. He was a member of the Safe Operations and Laboratory Safety Committees at Associated Octel Co., UK and Aramco. He was a member of the Toxic & Flammable Gas Detector Sensor Development Committee of Users & Manufacturers at the SIRA Institute, London.
Mr. Patel was a Steering and Organizing Committee member, speaker and a session chair of successive Professional Development Conferences organized by the ASSP Middle East Chapter. He is a Senior Board Advisor to the Arizona ASSP Chapter Board. He continues to speak at many USA and international SH&E conferences including at several ASSP Chapter PDCs. He was also a speaker at the ASSP’s annual PDCs.
Mr. Patel has a BS in Chemistry and an M.Phil in Energy & Fuel Science from Leeds University, UK. He is a Certified Professional Auditor (CPEA) for Health & Safety of the Board of HSE Professional Certification (BEAC), USA. He is a member of the Training & Education Committee of the BEAC. He is a Professional Member of the ASSE and a pioneer founding member and three times President of the ASSP Middle East Chapter and recently a founder of the ASSP Philippine, UAE, Pakistan and India Chapters. He is a Membership Chair of the ASSP IPS. His State and US National level health & safety contributions were recognized awarding him with the Howard Hiedman Award for a 2006-2007 – Arizona ASSP Safety Professional of the Year. Mr. Patel is also honored with the highest and the most prestigious award of a Fellow of the ASSE. He is a recipient of the ASSP’s 2012 Diversity & International Practice Specialty Awards.
